Aurora CEO for one day

Aurora CEO for one day

"Tomorrow's Boss" is a project by Jinc Belgium. This organization aims to introduce young people to various professions and help them discover their talents. For "Boss for a Day," Jinc pairs young people from socioeconomically challenging backgrounds with leaders who step aside for a day.

Pitching to the CEO

The pitch to the CEO is yet to take place, but Abdullah and Darwish have already discussed their ideas extensively with the sales and design managers. "The company has a choice: either embrace the digital world or convince more people to keep using paper," says Abdullah. They personally favor paper and even encourage the return of notebooks in schools. "You need to be able to take notes," Darwish points out.

The two students propose that Aurora should also build production sites in countries where paper is still widely used. "This would save the company on transportation costs." They also like the idea of combining paper, such as a handbook, with a QR code that provides access to a summary available on smartphones. "The managers thought these were good ideas that could be implemented in the short term," Abdullah says. "They also found our proposal to produce our own ink interesting, though that would be more of a long-term plan."

Becoming a CEO? The two are certainly interested. Darwish wants to start his own mobile phone repair service with his brother. "I’ve already worked with my cousin in Antwerp and gained some experience. The whole family is in the business." Abdullah, on the other hand, dreams of owning his own pizzeria. "Working for a boss is fine for gaining experience, but it’s not what I want to do my entire life."

Gert Cielen has already spoken briefly with his managers and is eager to talk directly with the young people about their proposals. "This is the first time we’re doing this, but we find it very valuable. We gave them a difficult task, and they took it very seriously. We should do this more often."
